Development Climate Activator Certification Programme (Release 1)

Please find below a summary of the entire development trajectory:

Anthesis Group has revised its certification programme, with the intention to become ISEAL Community Member. ISEAL is the global membership association for credible sustainability standards. In May 2019, Climate Neutral Group (now Anthesis Group) became an ‘ISEAL Subscriber’. The ISEAL Codes of Good Practise require several rounds of stakeholder consultation, before the final programme could be launched. As such, CNG (now Anthesis Group) has organised the below stakeholder consultation rounds. As a first step, in spring 2019, CNG (now Anthesis Group) developed a Terms of Reference for the Development of the CNG Certification Programme, describing the process and procedures pertaining to this development trajectory. Below picture visualises the entire process.

 

Update in May 2020: This roadmap is delayed by appr. 1 month, due to an additional stakeholder consultation round which has been scheduled for June’20, and due to COVID-19.

Round 1 – Stakeholder Event

On the 25th of June, 2019, CNG (now Anthesis Group) hosted a stakeholder event, in order to receive feedback from key stakeholders on the very first (draft) propositions for the revised KNG Standard and CNG (now Anthesis Group) Certification Programme.

During this event, the below programme documents were presented and participating stakeholders gave input to some important pre-defined questions during a break-out session in an online form. CLOSED.

(‘ToR Development Process’)		 Describes the justification, process and procedures for the development process of the Programme, including major changes, desired outcomes and stakeholders. ISEAL requirement; to assure that the development of the Programme is done in a transparent, stakeholder-inclusive manner, and leads to the desired impact.
2 (draft) Proposition Paper – Reduction Criteria_vs 0.1 Describes CNG’s position on (internal and external) GHG emission reductions. Proposition paper that will be ‘converted’ into new/ revised criteria of the Standard.
3 (draft) Proposition Paper – Insetting Criteria_vs 0.1 Describes CNG’s view as to how insetting can be used for product certification. Idem as above
4 (draft) Assurance Protocol_vs 0.1 Describes the processes and procedures related the verification and certification process. Defines roles and responsibilities for CNG, CNG clients, Footprint Calculators and independent Certification Bodies.

Round 2 – 1st Online Stakeholder Consultation Round

The feedback received from stakeholders during the stakeholder event resulted in a newer version (vs 0.2) of our propositions and programme documents. Please find a summary of this stakeholder feedback and how it was integrated in vs 0.2 here, as well as a summary of major changes in vs 0.2 (compared to the previous vs 0.1) here. A wider stakeholder audience can now comment on the new documents during CNG’s 1st Stakeholder Consultation Round. Round 3 – Advisory Committee Review

The feedback received from stakeholders during Round 2 (1st Online Consultation Round) has been processed, which resulted in the following programme documents:

On the 23rd of March, the Advisory Committee has met for the first time and reviewed these new and updated documents. The input from the committee members has been incorporated, which has resulted in a new version to be used for the 2nd Online Consultation Round. The Advisory Committee members have also agreed on the Terms of Reference for the Advisory Committee.

Round 4 – 2nd Online Stakeholder Consultation Round

The feedback received from the Advisory Committee during round 3 (Advisory Committee Review) has been processed, which resulted in the following programme documents:

A wide stakeholder audience was invited to comment on the above documents during CNG’s 2nd Online Stakeholder Consultation Round, via an online feedback form which was accessible between 1st of June – 1st of July 2020. Priot to this 2nd consultation round, CNG gave a webinar session for (potential) clients. The presentation slides can be found here.

Publication of final programme documents

The feedback received from stakeholders during Round 4 (2nd Online Consultation Round) has been processed which resulted in the final versions of the programme documents. These documents have been formally endorsed by the Advisory Committee on the 25th of August, 2020:

These documents have been shared with all relevant stakeholders on the 1st of September 2020, and will become mandatory from the 1st of January 2021, for the 2021 verification cycle.
